Starting with familiar words such as their name and the names of their friends. This expands to using language when creating bike licences, menus in play restaurants, money for shops, telling stories about their drawing etc.<br \/>\n\u2022 Through story- telling and reading to children, Educators teach children to understand and identify that print has meaning and to differentiate between text and images.<br \/>\n\u2022 News or Show and tell time allows the child to develop their confidence in public speaking, sharing their thoughts and feelings and to listen to others and ask questions in relation to the subject.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>Maths<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Educators use numbers in songs and stories as well as play experiences. This helps children understand number order as well as recognize numerals.<br \/>\n\u2022 We will expand upon their mathematical terminology and to recognise how to use them appropriately i.e.: bigger, smaller, taller, above, below, identify shapes.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>Physical Development<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>\u2022 We will enhance your child&#8217;s physical development, that is muscle development and coordination, through activities that will involve drawing, painting and manipulating a variety of materials such as small lego, pencils, threading, clay and play dough.<br \/>\n\u2022 Gross motor development is promoted through activities such as running, jumping, hopping, climbing, balancing, dance, music and movement, ball games, digging, fundamental movement activities and sitting tall during group time which will strengthen their upper and lower body.<br \/>\n\u2022 Learning to independently dress and undress oneself is an important skill as is recognising when they are thirsty and obtaining a drink.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>Cognitive and Thinking<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>\u2022 We will give children the opportunity to explore how and why things work.<br \/>\n\u2022 Working with others and individually to solve problems.<br \/>\n\u2022 Allowing them the opportunity to select a task and encouraging them to follow it through to the end.<br \/>\n\u2022 We encourage children to take safe risks through trial and error as they attempt to solve problems.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>Social and Emotional<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Our program supports the children\u2019s development of self-regulation, turn taking and negotiation.<br \/>\n\u2022 Children also learn conflict resolution and how to respect other people\u2019s ideas.<br \/>\n\u2022 Our transition to school program also includes:<a href=\"http:\/\/torontochildcare.com.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/Yourmomentscapturedbychanie-83.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-691 size-medium alignright\" src=\"http:\/\/torontochildcare.com.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/Yourmomentscapturedbychanie-83-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" data-id=\"419\" srcset=\"https:\/\/torontochildcare.com.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/Yourmomentscapturedbychanie-83-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/torontochildcare.com.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/Yourmomentscapturedbychanie-83.jpg 640w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Visits to local schools and visits from teachers from local schools.<br \/>\n\u2022 Practice unwrapping lunch items.<br \/>\n\u2022 Developing relationships with others going to the same school.<br \/>\n\u2022 Visits from previous children who now attend school to talk about their experiences.<br \/>\n\u2022 Discussions about orientations, buddy system, playgrounds etc.<br \/>\n\u2022 Cognitive games in small groups to extend concentration skills.<br \/>\n\u2022 Longer group times towards the end of the year.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Our School Readiness\/Transition to school program focuses on supporting children to become cooperative learners ready to take the next step in the educational life.
